Send a box of goodies to troops this holiday season

Happy Thanksgiving 2013Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day. For most of us, we think back over the past 12 months since last Thanksgiving and to the many things that have shaped our world.  Our troops are half way around the world doing the same but today is Thursday where they are.

Between now and Christmas, you can send troops stationed in combat zones holiday boxes full of things we take for granted, but may very well help someone through a tough day.  I have a box going to Afghanistan to the husband of one of the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon group members who will be there for another year.

My box weights about 18 pounds and is full of local newspapers, military newspapers, hard candies, deck of cards, ink pens, tooth brush and paste, different bars, a small LED flashlight, can of peanuts, a can of Lemon aid powder mix, different dried goods in bags they can mix and heat with water for soups etc, little things to us, but huge huge gifts for them.

You can contact any one of many veteran organizations in your community to learn the names and mailing addresses for those you can send holiday boxes to.  If you want to post their information here for others to read and send boxes to, please do.

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving where ever you are in the world.
