2017 year end update

Pets Loyal 2 Vets board members and trainers have been very busy during 2017 with graduations, new veterans in training, upcoming new groups forming for 2018 and attending many events to help raise awareness for PTSD. Their dedication to promote our mission and values is a testament to who they are.

Thanks to the many great individual donors, corporate sponsors and major donor campaigns and employer sponsored contributions, Pets Loyal 2 Vets has been able to continue to provide 100% free training for qualified veterans which includes mileage to training class, all training tools and vests, a special new companion and much more so that veterans attending training have zero cost.

We have served 23 veterans in one way or another, 6 more that are currently in training and 6 more in process for the next group early in 2018.  In 2017, we started the Battle Buddy program whereby any honorably discharged Minnesota veteran anywhere in Minnesota who applies for a Battle Buddy dog they pre-select from a local rescue group near them will be completely paid for by Pets Loyal 2 Vets. Applications are being accepted prior to dog selection and adoption so if you know of a veteran in need, please let them know. This will help place a homeless dog into the hands of veterans and their families at no charge. We are very grateful to the rescue organizations we have partnerships with and the great dogs we have adopted from them on behalf of the veterans. Keep up the great job.

There is also a new Intern program for college based Marketing students looking to gain experience within their field of study while gaining real world experience in promoting a non-profit. If you know of a Twin Cities based college student who is looking to gain college credits for their volunteer work, please use our contact form to let us know.

A very big thank you to the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs for their substantial grant and continued support for so many veterans we have served. Your support is recognized by every veteran we serve and in the lives of the veterans and dogs we have saved. Our very first graduate is now the President of our organization and his service dog Trevor, brought to us from the Minnesota Animal Rescue Service has been a fine example of how homeless dogs can change the lives of our veterans.

Special thanks goes to Chuck & Don’s for their generous donation and golf tournaments helping to raise awareness for PTSD and the rescued dogs we adopt for veterans who do not have their own dogs.  We are very thankful to all the employees and vendors who contributed to this special event.

A huge thank you also to the Brian McDonough Military Heroes Foundation and their golf tournament raising awareness and donations for Pets Loyal 2 Vets and the Fischer House, and to the fine folks at Tee It Up For The Troops and their generous donations. We are very grateful for all you do to Support Our Troops. We’d also like to thank the Mall of America for it’s generous sponsorship and their support in raising awareness for veterans suffering from PTSD.

We are so very proud to be a part of the Rochester, MN Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association and their benefit ride. The Burnsville High-school National Honor Society 5K run, The Patriot Radio 1280 AM station promoting PTSD awareness to golf tournaments, Bob & Brenda Schuster’s Christmas bake sale and silent auction at the Somerset, WI American Legion Post 111 which raised $6,613.00 and to the many donors below, we salute you.

  • $5,000   Silver Star
  • $2,500   Bronze Star

There are also many many donors whose generous contributions don’t fall within the above categories and to many who Gave All that we want to thank and never forget.  The families of Fallen Heroes, Gold Star Families, Blue Star mom’s, VFW’s and American Legion Posts, corporations, military and non-military organizations who have all supported our mission and the veterans in our “In Memory of” and “Special Tribute” sections. These veterans will never be forgotten and we thank each family member and friend for wanting to contribute in their names. Our men and women in uniform serve for the same reasons we all signed up. To protect and serve the American people and the United States of America.

From all of us at Pets Loyal 2 Vets, we hope your Christmas holiday was memorable and that the New Year will bring you all a higher quality of life.
